Myrtle Beach Golf Packages – The Secret to Golf Myrtle Beach
January 30th, 2009
Golf on historic rice plantations of South Carolina for a special treat. Plan your next golf vacation just 20 minutes south of Myrtle Beach!
Nothing could be finer…
Just a few short miles south of Myrtle Beach South Carolina, well known for it’s 100 plus golf courses, you’ll find Georgetown County, a monument to the fine tradition of the southern way of life. Tradition reigns supreme even to this day as many families have been there for 175 years or more. You’ll find the same names in the All Saints Cemetery on King’s Highway that belong to the movers and shakers of today. The people behind those outstanding golf courses that are #1 on your “hit” parade.
Believe me you’ll find golf in this area…and perhaps the best golf to be found in the Myrtle Beach area. One of the oldest golf courses in the area is Litchfield Golf and Country club, now we know that many of you have heard of or even played golf at Litchfield, or perhaps played it’s sister course, River Club, but did you know that both of these outstanding courses exist on what was once a rice plantation extending from the Waccamaw River to the Atlantic Ocean. Litchfield Plantation came into being approximately 1794 and a plat from that time shows an Avenue of Oaks and a house with two chimneys at either end, today you can still see that house, totally renovated and offered as a wonderful Bed and Breakfast Inn, with an adjacent restaurant aptly named The Carriage House. Both are totally steeped in the charm of a another day, elegant and authentic in detail, intimate and very special.
In the same area of Litchfield Beach is a fine old plantation, Willbrook, that now boasts 3 beautiful golf courses that include Willbrook and The Tradtion, (part of the Myrtle Beach National stable of courses) and The Reserve, a relatively new private course.
Play golf on such outstanding courses as Caledonia (voted the “Most Beautiful Golf Course”). After your drive to the club house down the long avenue of old oaks decorated with Spanish Moss, to the view of the waving stalks of green or gold rice in the now fallow rice fields, we know that you’ll agree that it is indeed a most beauiful site. Caledonia is on the site of “Waverly Plantation” circa 1750 and in continuous ownership by the Allston and Lachicotte families. Robert Allston was Governor of South Carolina from 1857 to 1859 and his papers for expenditures for his rice plantation from 1834 to 1857 survive to this day, but as was the case with many wealthy planters of the day, the Allstons lost much of their fortune as a result of the economic turmoil of the Civil War. Philip Lachicotte bought Waverly Plantation in 1871. Waverly Mills rice was famous and in fact won a Gold Medal in the 1902 Charleston Exposition, but by 1911 the rice culture was totally dead in South Carolina. True Blue Golf Club is also in this section of Pawleys Island and a monument to the old plantations of yesterday. If you look closely, when you play golf at these golf courses you may spot Doc Lachicotte having lunch in the clubhouse.
Gracious southern plantations abound in this area, names like Brookgreen, Hobcaw Barony, (home to Bernard Baruch in the early 19th century), and Wachesaw date well back to antebellum times. Brookgreen is now the site of Huntington National State Park and Brookgreen Gardens, floral and sculpture garden without peer.
Wachesaw Plantation, backing up to Brookgreen Plantation has it’s own abandoned rice fields, but today is an outstanding Tom Fazio private golf course and residential area. It is the most thoroughly researched plantation in the area. Archeologists dug and sifted for 3 years marking slave cemeteries and Indian burial grounds. The original plantation house setting on a bluff overlooking the Waccamaw river burned about 1890. In the section known as Richmond Hill there are remnants of a Revolutionary Fort with outline of old trenches still visible. You can play this wonderful golf course when you buy into some of our outstanding Myrtle Beach golf packages.
We wanted to give you food for thought the next time you go to play golf in Georgetown County just south of Myrtle Beach. It’s an ideal place for a golf vacation, with your foursome or your family. You can absorb the histroy and ambiance of a long ago past, even as you play the outstanding golf courses. Improve Your Putting By Developing Rock Solid Confidence On The Green
January 27th, 2009
All of us have missed a short putt before. It is frustrating
to miss something you know you can make! And most often a
missed short putt can cause a chain reaction of bad play.
Every golfer will have a tendency to remember a bad shot at
a certain hole when he next plays that hole. Think of any
short putt as a link on a chain that is a slack and being
pulled tight. As the chain tightens each link is influenced
by the one in front of it and influences the links behind it.
What you must learn to do is break this chain of bad reactions
by silencing that inner voice. This inner voice will tell you
all manner of ill-advised advice and you must build a new chain
based on memories of successful shots, not the failures of
previous ones.
Next time, as you approach the green for your putt, do not
speculate on what the condition or pace of the green is until
you actually get there. Wait until you can physically check
the conditions with your sight and touch. Here is where a
key principle is at work. As you are consciously checking the
grass and the line to the hole, your memory is subconsciously
at work, as well, accessing previous experiences with which
to compare this one. Much of the time, the images that are
being recalled are things that are best forgotten… Things
like whether or not you hooked your last putt on this green,
or pushed it on a prior hole. Indeed, I am certain that golfers
miss short putts purely because their memory, at the most
awkward time possible, reminds them of the countless other
short putts they have missed.
Thinking of missed or bad shots sets your mind and body into
motion to repeat that same missed shot. Instead close your
eyes for a moment and clear your mind of those memories.
Visualize yourself hitting the ball perfectly, feel the club
in your hand. Hear the ball hit the bottom of the cup. Then
open your eyes, ready yourself and remember how you just saw
yourself in your mind, and make the shot.
After the shot is sunk in the hole, take a moment and
remember the putt, how you made it, make a vivid impression
in your mind. This training will become a link in the chain,
and it will influence the next link (putt). When you are
on the next green, recall the putt you made, and then repeat
the visualization of sinking this next putt. Thus, a strong
“chain” is built – a successful chain. When you do miss short
putts from time to time, even though it is important to learn
why you missed so you can correct it, do not think of that
missed put on the next green. Dismiss it from your mind and
follow the above steps. Soon you will notice a dramatic
change in your short game as well as your overall confidence.

Accommodation Bargains Can Be Found because of the Recession
January 26th, 2009
would you believe the pound is fetching a little less than the euro at exchanges, one would reckon there would be a lot of fantastic ski deals to be had in alpine resorts this winter as snowboarders rest back home to beat the credit crunch. First facts recently publicised show that skiing resorts are 86 percent booked over the New year and Christmas time period. 14 percent up on the identical period a year ago.
One will have some luck in the new year that presently has a 35 % booking rate. The only signs of a recession is over the important school vacation month which has 69 % bookings, 1 % down on last ski season. Booking centers in the ski resorts of Chastreix-Sancy, Les Deux Alpes, Plateau de Beille and Les Orres have seen increased reservations during December furthered by the brilliant early ski season snow. Chastreix-Sancy has higher inquiries in comparison to Chamonix, and Flaine had an excellent New Year.
However there is strong demand for larger self catering chalets, 5 to 10 places, as folk group together to save the pennies. Evidence shows that DIY snowboarding breaks are holding up well, evidence perhaps that earnest boarders will not lose their trip to the mountains. However bookings from package ski holidays are down.
Are You Soccer Mad?.. Soccer Crazy?.. Then try these Rome Soccer Tours.
January 25th, 2009
If you are fanatical about soccer, as you read through this article you’re going to learn that it’s easier than you think to travel to Rome, and see a classic soccer match, with the fans of Roma or Lazio at your side. Wouldn’t it be amazing to tell your friends that you were there, in the Stadio Olimpico, when the winning goal was scored!
Whether you are coming to Rome on vacation or business, you simply have to experience the thrill of a football match! Rome soccer tour packages give you tickets to AS Roma or SS Lazio home games, hotel accommodation and breakfast daily. But don’t delay, tickets sell out quickly because both teams attract fanatical support.
The Stadio Olimpico is home to both Roma and Lazio and was built for the 1960 Olympic games. An impressive 82,000 plus venue it has housed European Cup Finals and the 1990 World Cup Final. It is also the first choice home of the Italian national team, and a great venue for these Rome soccer tours.
And you can be reassured… it’s easy to get there. Rome’s principal airport, Fiumicino, lies 30kms south of the city and connects to Rome’s major train station, Termini by regular hourly trains. The second airport, Ciampino, lies 15km south east of the city and is connected to the centre by bus to Anagnina metro station, where a direct train and then a tram will quickly get you to the stadium.
You can even save time and money and book your airport transfer services before you go! You can use a shuttle service that will take you from Rome’s Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport to your Rome Hotel, without the hassle of picking up a rental car, negotiating unfamiliar traffic and maps.
The history of both Roman Football Clubs is equally littered with glory and frustration.
AS Roma were born in 1927 from the fusion of three different clubs – Alba, Fortitudo and Roman. A fine record in the 1930s eventually led to the first Giallorossi Scudetto in 1942.
Difficult years followed until their one and only relegation in 1951. With an immediate return to the top flight, Roma quickly captured a third place and the 1961 UEFA Cup. The Coppa Italia came in 1964, the first of seven in this competition.
Roma’s most glorious years were the 1980s as aside from the two Italian Cups, the club’s second Scudetto was lifted by Coach Nils Liedholm in 1983. The following year only a penalty shoot-out against Liverpool at the Stadio Olimpico kept them from winning the European Cup.
Fabio Capello’s Roma led the 2000-01 Serie A table from start to finish for their third Scudetto and the club’s first medal in a decade.
Rivals Lazio were founded in 1900 as Societa Spotiva Lazio, a multi-purpose sports club. The Biancocelesti began football full-time in 1906. Winning one wartime Roman title in 1944, the club lifted their first national trophy – a Coppa Italia – in 1958 but were relegated three seasons later.
Several trips up and down the Divisions preceded Lazio’s first Scudetto in 1973-74 when they were led by the legendary Giorgio Chinaglia. But within five years came the club’s darkest hour as Lazio was relegated for financial irregularities and only a play-off prevented the club from slipping into Serie C in 1987.
Sergio Cragnotti took over the club in 1992 and with his financial backing Lazio have become a force both in Italy and Europe. Since 1997 the Biancocelesti have won their second Scudetto, a Cup-Winners’ Cup, an Italian and European Super Cup and two Italian Cups. However, only massive sales and a restructuring of contracts allowed the club to avoid bankruptcy.
Both clubs continue to ride close to the top of Italy’s Serie A, and the rivalry is intense, especially during the annual “derby” matches where the teams and tifosi face each other. So, if your passion is football, then don’t miss the opportunity to see your favorite Roman team play a home game this season, and be there with The Ultras!
Why book ahead?.. Well, here are my thoughts: * The most popular matches can sell out well in advance. Don’t risk being disappointed! * Reduce stress! Don’t waste time haggling with the hotel concierge for matchday tickets. * Lock in your price! Currency dips & price hikes won’t effect you. * Save vacation time! Plan & book now, not when you’re there. * Balance your vacation budget! Charge tours on this month’s credit card bill.
Believe me (and I’ve been in Rome during a major soccer tournament!) there’s nothing like the atmosphere of a match day, and the city buzzes with excitment. So, try one of these great value Rome soccer tours. Take the easy way – and book this efficient service online now and save time in Rome. You could have your match tickets secured in the next fifteen minutes!
As an extra resource for readers, I have posted this article onto my website, and provided quick links to these great tours.
Let s-Travel-Rome.com/RomeSoccerTours
I hope you’ll agree that these special Rome soccer tours offer real value, and I know that you’ll return home with some special memories of your stay in the Eternal City.
Best wishes for a great trip, and let me know the score!

Mobile Broad Band will soon be the Turning Point to the Spread of Internet
January 25th, 2009
Mobile broadband has been advertised as the new achievement in the Web which is increasingly looking like it holds the key to the future of high speed internet. Up until a few years ago, broad band has been delivered via a simple phone landline, ADSL cable, that links to a laptop via an ADSL modem. WI FI high speed connection is going to be very famous, whereby the ADSL modem is attached to the PC terminal through a wireless network, and as a consequence internet users are now throwing away cables. However broadband on the go will take internet further and offering another big step in the developing of broadband; a broadband connection pretty much in all the house without the need for a traditional phone line cable.
The prospect of having a broad-band line in any room is surely an interesting idea for potential users, especially those people who more and more use their laptops not from home. Business people who regularly travel for work are the main target for mobile high speed internet because they will like the chance of not having to look for a reliable WI-FI spot for a reliable connection. Mobile broad band is going further than that, and since prices soon start to go down and connection lines increase we will see most of broad band users applying for mobile fast speed connection.
Mobile broad-band works by using a modem to a laptop, often called a ‘dongle’, from which a laptop will work with whichever mobile broadband internet provider the customers have acquired. Internet providers are supplying mobile broad band packages and coverage of the networks, also known as third generation networks, which covers 90% of the UK.
Speed has been an important factor for any broad band line and mobile broad-band providers at the beginning had problems to convince users that a mobile broad band could be as fast as traditional, landline broadband. High speed connections are changing, recently Vodafone has reported mobile broad band speeds up to 7 mb, which is not that far from some of the fastest landline broadband. Many countries, including the UK, are laying plans to put lot of money in fibre optic cable networks, because they want to speed up high speed internet line to up to 100 mb.
In New Zealand a famous telecommunications provider has claimed that mobile broad band networks are going to develop rapidly in the next future and they have forecasted that mobile broad-band will deliver speeds of up to 100mb by 2011, which is when the UK’s fibre optic network is going to be delivered. This could create a major shift in industry thinking, with the discovery of a super fast mobile broad band network with obvious advantages over the installation of lots of miles of fibre optic cables, not least from a practical point of view.
Choosing A Cycling Road Bike
January 24th, 2009
How To Choose Your Road Bike, Different Level Of Riders
How to choose your road bike? Well the first question is how much do you want to spend and how much cycling will you do? The answer to the first question is a difficult one, many people when they are younger they want to ride there bike all day and what to be the next winner of the Tour de France, but they can not afford to spend much on there bike. If they get fit and win some races and get in a good team they will be given a top class bike, but what usually happens is they have to give up and work, have a family etc. When they are older and have more money they can afford the bike of there dreams. As to how much cycling you do, that depends on whether you can justify having the best bike around and only doing a short ride on Sunday morning. Remember you get what you pay for.
Basic Level Bikes.
If you go to the larger sports stores or bike shops they will have complete bikes for sale, probably a alloy frame with Shimano Tiagra or Campagnolo Mirage or a mixture of cheaper components, this bike will be built to a price, will ride fairly well, wont be very light and is a good place to start. To get some thing better, start with a nice alloy frame and if you can afford it, carbon forks, then with what money you have left chose your group-set of either Shimano or Campagnolo and then you can pick your saddle, handlebars, wheel rims and tires, this is all fun, but if you are working to a budget, it can be tricky.
Mid Level, Touring and Possibly Racing.
In this range of bikes you can buy them as a complete cycle, in the cycle shop, sports store or even in the specialist magazines or on the web. It is more fun to choose the components for your frame and how much you want to spend. At this level you would probably be looking at Shimano 105 or Campagnolo Centaur road bike parts and you could possibly buy some built up wheels from Shimano, Campagnolo or Mavic, but first start with the frame, there are many frames out there to choose from, get on the net and look for what you want, it will probably be alloy again, with carbon forks. Alloy seat pin, handle bars and stem and a comfortable saddle.
Top Level Bike For Racing and Pleasure.
Now it gets more difficult, your components would be Campagnolo Chorus or Shimano Ultegra, unless you can afford the top components of both manufacturers. Wheels again would be possibly Mavic, Shimano or Campagnolo, deep carbon rims look Great and have a wonderful ride, but will probably be too expensive, best if you stick to alloy rims for high pressure tires as tubulars, even though they ride wonderfully, will be expensive and a lot of trouble. Handle bars, stem and seat pin could be alloy or carbon, if you have the money. The frame is the heart of your bike and you will want a good one, at this price range alloy is going to be the first choice with carbon forks and possibly a carbon rear triangle. If you look around you might manage to find an all carbon frame at this price, Giant make a very well priced carbon frame in a compact, sloping design, there are others but you will have to spend a lot more money.
The Top of The Shopping List.
When’re looking at a lot of money here if you want to buy a professional road bike. The frame will be all carbon or titanium with carbon forks and maybe a carbon rear triangle or alloy main tubes with carbon front or rear end. The nicest ones on the market at the moment, in my opinion, are Colnago, De Rosa, Pinarello, Battaglin, Time, Scott, Cervelo and many more, all are available in different colours, geometries and sizes, check out there web sites for information and try to make your choice, it’s a difficult job. This is a professional road bike so it will have to have the best components, Shimano Dura.Ace or Campagnolo Record are your only choice at this level. Same with the wheels, Dura-Ace or Campagnolo Bora, these can be for high pressure clincher tires or tubulars, tubulars are more trouble but do ride well, but clincher tires are very nearly as nice and much more practical. Handle bars, stem and seat pin will be carbon and your saddle will have a carbon base with a leather cover and sometimes with gel for a little extra comfort.
The Best Bike You Can Afford.
You do only get what you pay for, so get the best bike you can afford, look around the magazines and the web sites and don’t forget your local bike shop until you get that little jewel, but be careful not to make your partner jealous!

Buy Discount Musical Tickets on the Internet
January 21st, 2009
City breaks always seem like such an outstanding idea – to leave behind habits & habitats, experiencing something new; perhaps listen to something different. However, without an aim, weekends away can now and then fall somewhat flat, a case of ambling around a big town, constantly darting into outlets & distinguishing sculptures. This could be sufficient if you are satisfied to go with the flow, conversely if you prefer being occupied & ‘doing’ something then theatre musical breaks can be a fantastic choice. Enjoy London’s top musicals with cheap theatre tickets.
While you can continually fly to New York, why bother? As there is a great amount of talent & enjoyment much nearer to home in London. Notably, the Capital hosts a large amount of breathtaking theatres, most of which are located in the West End – a place in which everyday life appears to become a little better and all things turns out alright at the end of the day; or at least if not, you can get misplaced in pleasant moments & feel a slightly better individual.
Nevertheless for lavish, merry amusement throughout a London show break as a rule the majority of individuals watch musical shows. These can be anything from the heart-wrenching tragedy for example Les Misérables to the rollerblading excitement that is Starlight Express. Nevertheless admirers of rock and roll, doo-wap & boys & women in awfully tight leather will only be fascinated about one show – Grease. Taking the UK by storm in the nineteen seventies, this great show has never ceased to make an impression on audiences, transferring with great ease to the big screen. Staring a striking John Travolta & a particularly skinny Olivia Newton-John, the movie went on to be listed for an Oscar.
Numerous people will have a small room in their heart for Grease, no matter how old you are, or indeed what sex. It is one of those enjoyable motion pictures that is enjoyed by numerous age groups; likewise the musical is apt for all age groups. The ease & liveliness of Rydell High is catchy, the late 1950s garments are so desirably retro, and the music songs are so infectious that you’ll be singing in your seats.
How To Sell Your House Quick
January 19th, 2009
The key to selling your house quickly is having it priced fairly and making sure it is in tip top shape. Prospective buyers will be scrutinizing every aspect of your home, looking in closets and cupboards both inside and out. They want a sense of whether your house has been well cared for and they will be looking for signs that repairs will need to be made or that you might be hiding some sort of problem.
Making sure your house is in tip top shape with no signs of neglect or wear will remove this barrier to purchase that many buyers have. If you give them no excuses not to like the house then you will sell it that much faster!
When preparing your house for a quick sale, you need to think lie a buyer and inspect every inch of the house. Check each door to make sure it works smoothly and is not loose. Check all your faucets to make sure they work properly and water pressure is good. Repair them if they leak or look worn and clean around them if “gunk” has piled up over the years.
Clean out all your cupboards and closets! Put any clothes or dishes you do not need right now in storage. You’d have to pack this stuff up when you move anyway so at least this step will be done. Think about giving everything a fresh coat of paint – this can do wonders to improve the appearance of your home. If you have dark or brightly colored walls, paint them a neutral tone. It will lighten the look and have a broader appeal to prospective buyers.
Don’t get into any huge renovations when you are about to sell your house. Many times buyers are looking to put their own stamp on a home. A quick renovation may actually devalue your home in your prospects eyes unless you happen to pick exactly what they would have done. Instead, just make some minor changes to freshen up the appearance of the home. Freshening up your home does not require expensive materials either, but shoddy workmanship will cost you so keep the jobs simple.
Take a good look at what you have on the walls and knick knacks around the house. If it looks too cluttered pack some of the stuff away. You might also consider removing items that might be offensive or inappropriate (check the posters in your teenager’s room). Try to put away excessive amounts of books, personal items and photos as this will give the house a cleaner look.
Removing family photos is a good idea. Remember, this is only temporary, but you want as many prospects as possible to envision themselves living in the home. That means they need to see the home and not become too distracted by unusual or cluttered décor.
It’s a good idea to hire a home inspector to give you an idea of any defects you might have. This will alert you to any problems so you can have them fixed or at least be able to note them to potential buyers. Plus once you do find a buyer, you will know that there won’t be any surprises one they have the house inspected.
If there are problems such as roofing, electrical, foundation or other expensive projects, determine the cost of the repair compared to the value of your home without it being done. Will the problem put buyers off? You can fix it yourself or adjust your asking price to reflect the work that needs to be done, whichever you think will get you the most amount of money in the least amount of time.
Don’t forget about the outside of your house either. Make sure the lawn and gardens are well cared for. If you have lots of bare spots, invest in some inexpensive flowers and plant them – it will do wonders for your curb appeal. Make sure the landscaping is neatly trimmed and the walkway is in good repair. Also, make sure all outside (and inside) lighting works in case buyers come to see the house at night.
A little bit of elbow grease and minor expense can put your house in fine shape and help you get more money in your pocket in less time!
Google Patent Application – User Data As Part of Ranking Process
January 19th, 2009
In this third article, we continue to dig into the patent application of Google regarding the method used to rank sites in search results. Interestingly, Google asserts in the application that it “might” consider user data as a factor in organizing search results.
What Is User Data?
Without being rude, you should already know what user data is as part of your site evaluation. Any owner of a site on the web should be constantly looking at user data found on site servers.
The site server should have an administrative program telling you what searches are being used to reach the site, better known as “search strings.” The program should also be telling you how many pages the user looks at on each visit and where in the site they go. By reviewing these statistics, you can identify the sections of your site that appeal to potential customers. If clients are leaving after visiting only one or two pages, such statistics should tell you that you have an abandonment problem. The new information from the Google patent should motivate you to closely monitor your site.
Essentially, Google is also looking at your server statistics to determine the value of your content and factoring it into the rankings. Specifically, Google claims in the patent application that it tracks the amount of time that users spend accessing a page on your site. Having filed a few patent applications in my time, what this really means is Google is looking at how long a user spends on your site and how “deep” they go into it.
Expanding on this subject, Google details an additional factor. As with the Adwords program, Google is monitoring the click through rate on search results. The more click-throughs to your site from its listings in Google, the higher it will be moved in the search results.
Every Little Bit Helps
Google claims that it looks at what users are bookmarking. The apparent jist is that Google considers a site with a lot of bookmarks to be “worthy” of a higher ranking. In short, get out there and bookmark your sites!
Conclusion
The effort of Google to look for depth in a site should be commended. There is nothing worse then clicking onto a promising search result to find one crappy page full of links. With this new policy, Google rewards sites with healthy amounts of relevant pages. In short, content is king again.
